HIGHWAY 17 GLENWOOD CURVE SAFETY/DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT

Improvements to the Glenwood Curves segment of Highway 17 (PM 10.1/11.3) are tentatively scheduled to begin in Summer 2007. The purpose of this project is to reduce accidents under wet conditions within the southbound portion of Highway 17. Approximately 75% of the collisions at this location occur during wet conditions. Improvements proposed include increasing outside shoulder width, building retaining walls, and installing new slotted drains and drainage inlets. These safety improvements will reduce the opportunity for wet weather-related accidents.
