Highway 1 Ramp Closure at Park Avenue

A project to construct northbound and southbound auxiliary lanes and bus-on-shoulder improvements on Highway 1 will result in the closure of the southbound Highway 1 Park Avenue off-ramp on Tuesday, October 14 from 7 am to 4 pm.

This ramp closure is necessary for the contractor to pour the pile cap as part of the construction of new sound walls. Due to the steep grade of the access road, the concrete trucks must be positioned along the off-ramp.

Travelers will be directed to continue south to the State Park Drive exit before returning northbound on Hwy 1 to reach Park Ave.

The contractor for this ongoing $78 million project is Granite Construction of Watsonville, CA, It is expected to be completed by Fall of 2026.

Updated project information for the improvements on Highway 1 between the Bay Ave./Porter St. and State Park Drive interchanges can be found on the Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission’s website at: https://sccrtc.org/projects/streets-highways/hwy1/bayporter-statepark/
