The City of Santa Cruz and the County of Santa Cruz invite the community to Coastal Rail Trail Segments 8 & 9 Virtual Open House on Thursday, March 31, 5-6:30 p.m. Public dialogue is welcomed on this 2.2-mile bicycle and pedestrian system project that will extend along the Santa Cruz Branch Rail Line corridor, from Beach Street/Pacific Avenue to the east side of 17th Avenue. The link to attend this Zoom event is located at www.cityofsantacruz.com/CoastalRailTrail.
The virtual open house will be presented by City of Santa Cruz Public Works Assistant Director Nathan Nguyen with County of Santa Cruz Project Manager Rob Tidmore and RRM Design Group Principal Designer Mike Sherrod. The open house will include a general overview of the schematic plans to date with opportunity for public questions, concerns and feedback.
The Coastal Rail Trail Segments 8 & 9 project is designed to be 12 to 16 feet wide. Segment 8 (0.6 mile) is comprised of an on-street bicycle system and pedestrian sidewalk improvements. Segment 9 (1.6 miles) is comprised of a multi-use bicycle and pedestrian trail. Design completion is expected in spring of 2023.
Coastal Rail Trail Segments 8 & 9 project goals are to increase the number of people biking and walking, improve safety and mobility of non-motorized users, and provide high-quality connections to schools, parks, and community facilities.
