The Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) owns and maintains the Santa Cruz Branch Rail Line (SCBRL) right-of-way and is moving forward with developing transportation services on the SCBRL right-of-way between the City of Santa Cruz and Pajaro just south of the City of Watsonville.
As owner of the Santa Cruz Branch Rail Line right-of-way, RTC completed a property boundary survey. RTC identified unauthorized mobile home encroachments that are in conflict with development of the Coastal Rail Trail as currently designed.
Encroachments within the rail right-of-way between the intersections of the Santa Cruz Branch Line with Thompson Avenue and 38th Avenue include fencing, mobile homes, accessory structures, and structures of unknown use. The mobile homes, structures, and fencing encroaching into the SCBRL right-of-way are unauthorized.
RTC staff worked with RTC’s real property consultant to develop a list of options for removal of encroachments associated with mobile homes. A description of encroachments and options for encroachment removal associated with each individual mobile home and associated amenities are discussed in the Draft Mobile Home Encroachment Options Report.
